Why do atheists think that reason and evidence work talking to theists?
You're right, in fact I would go one step further; Its pointless to have any sort of argument between theists and non theists becuase theists have the ultimate defense against any debate: When something can't be explained, 'God did it'. BELIEF is the notion that you accept something REGARDLESS OF any proof or logic or reason. It may be proof for or against, it doesn't matter. Belief and faith are simply an acceptance of something. There can be no logical argument when someone simply ACCEPTS an idea without any regard for its authenticity because they take their own acceptance as that authenticity. The same would apply to trying to use psychoLOGICAL implications. Ultimately, theism is a mental delusion. If people believed in and worshiped an actual Flying Spaghetti Monster, we'd lock them up for being crazy. But the notion of 'God' or 'Gods' or religion is so engrained in our collective society that we accept this delusion. I say let them be because there's no reasoning with them.
